About Me

Sex, Relationship & Birth Therapist

Since 2008 I have been supporting couples and individuals across all ages, cultures and mental health issues with a wide range of therapeutic support, working for renowned organisations including Relate, Cruise Bereavement and the NHS.

Trained with an Advanced Diploma in Couples Counselling, a PG diploma in Psychosexual Therapy, and with an MSC in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes, my Continual Personal Development certificates include post-traumatic birth and sexual abuse, sexual orientations, family constellations, sex addiction and domestic violence.

I became a Counsellor and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and was a trustee for Footsteps Counselling and Care. Developed a free resource for miscarriage, still birth, infertility or pregnancy related issues: www.maternitystoriesheal.com. I’m currently working as a consultant therapist for adoption through, Headsight Services.

I specialise in supporting adult survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence and people experiencing varied sexual orientations, including identity, fetishes and sex addiction. Over my many years of work I have gained valuable experience and understanding of the power of the mind in this context, working one-to-one, with couples and with groups.

Through co-founding Empowered Self, I also support a wide range of industries, including the NHS, with coaching and counselling to provide Wellbeing in the Workplace.

Previous to my counselling work, I was employed at the BBC as an assistant producer in specialist factual, dealing with a range of people and life issues. I have also had a strong interest in patterns of the mind, the stories we tell, wellbeing, and how people can be given their own tools to change.

How to Start

Impartial • Comprehensive • Professonal

You as the client/clients make the first contact via this website, by phone or text message. This can be the hardest first step and you/your partner will know when the time is right.

The Initial Consulation

Our first step is for you to sign our working contract, which can be viewed here. Then we will always begin with an initial 50-minute consultation in which the needs of everyone are assessed and the appropriate method and direction of therapy is agreed upon.

Understand Patterns

History and context will form the basis from which we work. Within the psychosexual model we then move into history-taking, to understand all the influences that could be baring down on your presenting problem/s. If working with an individual/couple, we begin to form a framework, moving from the past-present towards the future you’re aiming for. For the wellbeing workshops the client decides the needs of their organisation, and this is the foundation for the work.

Growth

All therapy is client led as this depends on commitment, boundries, creativity, therapeutic alliance, feeling safe, confidentiality and strong ethical frameworks. If you feel I am the person to help and understand you then this is where your growth generates from.

Creativity

The therapy process is dependent on the client/s needs and what resonates with everyone. I am trained in several modalities and look to work by a case-by-case basis. There is no one size fits all. If I am doing my job, I will find the key that helps you unlock your presenting problem.

Empowerment

We will have regular check-ins throughout the process of our therapeutic relationship. This is so the whole process can be transparent and we can reflect together on how different ways of working are landing with you. The client is the expert and I am only providing the tools to enable your process.

The Door is Always Open

Clients can book in follow-up appointments, or return to me months or years later. My therapeutic support will always remain available if needed.
